Louisa Winthrop

 

Today we’re getting under the hood with Louisa Winthrop a mother, daughter, sister, friend women’s advocate and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 30+ years in the areas of women’s health and mental health, trauma, and healing through mind-body techniques.  From 2004 through 2022, Louisa worked at the YWCA Greenwich Domestic Abuse Services (now Harmony Project) as an Adult Counselor, Clinical Supervisor, and Field Instructor for MSW students from Columbia and Fordham Universities. Currently, Louisa operates a private psychotherapy practice in CT, specializing in trauma, and is a certified Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist. She has additional training in Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, guided imagery, and meditation.

Before moving to CT, Louisa worked as a home finder for New Alternatives for Children, a foster and adoptive agency for children with special medical needs in New York City. Previously, Louisa worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston as a member of the GYN Oncology team and as a therapist in the outpatient program ‘Women Helping Women’ treating survivors of incest and early trauma.

Louisa has a BA from Duke University and a Master's in Social Work from Boston University.
