Tamara Taitt
Today we’re getting under the hood of Tamara Taitt a daughter, sister, and licensed as a midwife and a marriage and family therapist and currently the Executive Director at the Atlanta Birthing Center.
Tamara has a varied background in women’s reproductive health activism and has been working in maternal, infant, and child health for the last twenty years. Tamara has a deep interest in the sustainability of the midwifery profession and politics as they relate to birth. On a (perhaps) permanent break from pursuing a PhD in Family Therapy, her clinical and research interests focus on exploring mental health issues that are pervasive during the childbearing years particularly the experience of postpartum depression, post-traumatic stress related to birth and perinatal bereavement. Tamara currently serves on the board of the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery. She is the owner of a private practice Kindred: Therapy for Wellness.
Tamara previously served as the Director of Student Life, Equity & Access at the Midwives College of Utah and as Administrator of the birth center, she founded, Magnolia Birth House. Tamara shares a home with her partner Michelle, her stepdaughter, 9 dogs, 2 cats, approximately 200 houseplants, and a 400-volume cookbook collection.
