Tereza Menuez

 

Today we are honoring Tereza is a mother, grandmother, sister, friend, artist, stylist, producer and business woman. Born in Brazil at fifteen her family was torn apart due to the country being in a state of political unrest. Her older and younger sister managed to flee to the United States in Long Island NY. It was 3 years before Tereza joined her sisters and life began in NY where she finished out high school and met her now husband Doug. She worked in NYC in a sweat shop before going back to Brazil to pursue her education where she studied history at the University of Brazil.

Tereza experienced many tumultuous years while also building her skills which only highlighted her tremendous strength and resilience. Over multiple decades Tereza taught English as a second language, was an assistant producer at Brazil's Globo TV, became a world class stylist, producer and helped run her and her husband Doug Menuez’s photography business.

She'll share her over 60 years of female experiences growing up in Brazil, moving to America and then traveling back and forth between two worlds as a woman born into a misogynistic country.
